Dept of Circulation was my version of a book club. During the school year in 2019, I selected phrases from books I read and sent them out on handwritten postcards to my friends or to anyone interested in getting book-related mail. On my commute to and from school (a long commute, as it happened), I would read books, marking down any phrases that struck me as beautiful or noteworthy. At school, over the course of my day teaching art to children, I made postcards, using leftover scraps from the children’s efforts in the classroom.
